Blood Transfusions became standard practice in hospital operating rooms in the 1950’s , but they came under severe scrutiny in the early 1980’s , after several thousand people contracted diseases from contaminated blood . Since then , a new discipline was born ; it’s called bloodless medicine , transfusion free surgery .
