Along the River During the Qingming Festival (1085-1145) is one of the most famous and influential works of the Song Dynasty. Artist Zhang Zeduan captures the festive spirit of the Qingming festival through intricately detailed renditions of people, buildings, and activities. Close examination throughout history has revealed over 1600 people, 400 animals and 500 unique stories all simultaneously being told in one masterpiece. People from all levels of society and their daily lives are captured and preserved in this work that has been revered in artistic cultures throughout history and across the world.
